Hammond Castle on the rocky coast of Gloucester MA was the perfect location for Sandra and Miran’s wedding day on May 23rd. The medieval-style castle built was constructed by John Hammond as a wedding present for his wife Irene to prove how much he loved her! How romantic is that!? The castle’s unique character and ambiance matched well with the spirit of the bride and groom.
The weather was perfect for the personalized ceremony prepared by Justice of the Peace Stoddard Melhado, held outside the castle on the back lawn overlooking the water. Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres were served outside and we entertained with upbeat classic jazz which fit just right with the guests.
We created some great energy right away with upbeat music for introductions into a quick dance set. Everyone joined in with the bride and groom on their first dance which paid respect to their Bosnian heritage. We also worked in some traditional Bosnian music during the evening for group dancing specific to the couples culture. The dance floor was energized into the evening, and we focused on newer top 40 dance music keeping it upbeat.
We provided all of the up-lighting which really made the castle POP! Lighting inside a castle or older historical venues can be dim. By adding vibrant up-lights with just one color it really gave Hammond Castle that extra touch to make the atmosphere really special, while keeping it classy, highlighting the architectural features of the venue.
At the end of the night all the guests made their way to the drawbridge, while venue staff assisted them with sparklers for a fantastic and memorable sparkler sendoff.
The team at Hammond Castle was great to work with. Linda was one of the best and most friendly function coordinators! The catering provided by Gary and Barbara of Creative Catering was delicious! They cooked the food right at the castle, so everything was very fresh. We had the chicken with asparagus and mashed potatoes and it was fabulous.
