Project Description

Wedding at the Mass Audubon Habitat in Belmont, MA

Mary & Ali’s wedding was held at the Mass Audubon Habitat in Belmont, a 90 acre wildlife sanctuary. This historic estate is a unique brick 1914 Georgian Style mansion with gorgeous manicured gardens.

The original plan was to hold the ceremony & cocktail hour outside in the garden area, however mother nature decided the event would happen inside, so we quickly adapted and made it happen!

The day began with a wonderful wedding ceremony officiated by their friend Justin. Justin obtained a one day license to officiate and he was so incredible, you would have believed he has been officiating marriages his whole life! He owned the moment and exuded confidence, poise and character.

The wedding reception was held in the Mass Audubon Habitat mansion’s intimate 750 square foot living room with working fireplace, solarium, wood floors, and floor-to-ceiling windows. This wedding venue was just right for the 80 guests because the room was full and had that feeling of excitement and energy all around. Our uplighting package really added character and warmth to the room. This was a perfect event where uplighting really made a big difference and was important to have.

The wedding colors were autumn shades, and we went with amber uplighting to warm up the room for dinner since it was so cold outside. Then when the dancing began, we rotated through uplight colors for more energy.

I loved the efficient flow and minimal downtime of this wedding. There was an hour and 15 minutes for dancing. We played hit after hit, fast mixed and upbeat with no dead moments, we moved quickly through each song, the guests stayed focused and the energy levels were palpable, you could really feel it!

One of the best moments of the night was when Ali’s father gave a speech at the end of dinner. He had such great words about his daughter and her new wife, it was just so emotional and heartfelt and had everyone in tears. Another great moment was Mary & Ali’s first dance to “To a Better Place” by Richard Platt, you could really feel the love between them.

Beth Heller with East Meets West Catering was really just a joy to work with, from the moment I saw her we hugged. She loves weddings just as much as I do!

We’ve worked with Troy at Solare Wedding Photography many times and have a great rapport and work wonderful together, he actually referred us to Ali and Mary. Thanks Troy!!

Special thanks to Justin, my roadie and fellow DJ, for being there and making our performance a smooth, flawless performance.

Some nice words from Mary & Ali:

“Ron & Deb make an incredible team. From the get-go, they were incredibly responsive and went above and beyond to really get at what we wanted from the wedding, and how we wanted our guests to feel at the wedding, not just what we wanted to hear!

Ron served double duty as both DJ and organizer, helping us understand the flow of the wedding and the points of coordination between each phase.

The day of, Ron and team helped ensure that each transition was flawless, allowing us to really enjoy ourselves and our guests without worrying about logistics.

Ron also provided uplighting for the day, which made the venue feel incredibly warm despite the cold October weather!” – Mary & Ali
